Utgarde Keep:Why you should say no to level 80's

I just don't know what to do anymore.  The higher my level gets, the more Horde on my realm suck.  I'm not really sure how or why it's like that.  It's like the values of your class slowly diminish as they become stronger. (Note:  I don't mean that all Horde on my realm suck.  I just notice that there are a lot more players that suck at higher levels, then at lower levels.  Again.  I'm not talking about everyone.)

For instance.  I was running Utgarde Keep with an Orc Protection Warrior, a Troll Hunter (with an exotic tank pet I guess.  It was a Cleft Hide.), a level 80 Orc Hunter (He had full epic gear almost, and had a wolf pet.  I don't know his spec), and finally myself (Level 70 Druid.  I was healing this time.)

Now, I'm not really one to take higher levels into instances with me.  I made an exception this time however, because I figured it would be an easy, fast run with an 80 Hunter.  Oh boy was I wrong....

First off the protection warrior decided he didn't want to pull.  That's fine I guess.  That means that he needs to know how to built a lot of aggro, on a lot of targets quickly enough to keep everyone alive. For the record: He didn't know how to do that.  I was constantly getting aggro just after one or two heals.  I was always having to run away, or heal myself.  Which of course led to other people dieing.  Even with this happening, no one died very often.  That is until we got to the first boss.....

I guess the Troll Hunter and the Warrior didn't know the fight.  I was almost done typing the explanation (I try to explain every fight before hand just in case), when I see the level 80 hunter charge in!  With out thinking, I sent what I had typed, and jumped in healing.

For those of you that don't know.  The first boss you fight in UK, summons 4 skeletons, and freezes a random person every few seconds.  So you need to have someone fighting the skeletons to keep them off the healer, and someone to break the ice blocks that your party will be froze in.

None of the above happened.  The skeletons started beating my face in, and no one helped me.  By some unjust act of god I kept the tank and myself alive......  Until I was frozen.  Then I just laughed, took my hands off the key board and mouse, and watched everyone die.  There was nothing I could do at that point.

So back to my original point.  At what point does a Hunter think he can solo a boss?  When does he think he can take damage like a tank?  Why wouldn't a tank want to pull aggro first, so he could keep control of fights later?  I just don't understand.

It should be stated that I ran a group with 3 Shaman, and one Rogue right before the incident with the 80 Hunter.  Not only did my group of level 68-70 Shammans and Rogue make it all the way through UK.  We did it with only the Rogue dieing on the last boss.

So how could 5 of us that were barely high enough to run the instance, pull together and do what a level 80 hunter with a 4 man group could not?  I have no idea....  If you figure that out, let me know though.

Too Much Pink

I was recently on a website that keeps track of all the active characters in World of Warcraft...  What I found was more disturbing than anything I've seen before.  The Blood elves make up more than 1/4 of our total Horde population.  I was shocked.  I knew that there were a lot of them...  I didn't know there were THAT many though.  Every time I turn around, I'm tripping over Blood Elves.  They are probably my least favorite class.  I hope that when the Worgen come out in the new expansion, that balances out some.

I know that some of the people that play Blood Elves are good people...  I just don't like their characters though.
The male Belfs are metro sexual pink men.  They laugh like they're the most evil, powerful force in the entire universe.  And their jokes poke fun at the fact that they're metro sexual magic addicts....  I just don't care for them.

The female Belfs aren't quite as bad as the male ones...  They're still bad though.  First off, they're the new "pretty class" They're even more popular than Night Elves...  And Night elves were pretty friggin popular.  The female Belfs dance is the Brittney Spears dance, from her video Toxic...  I think.  I'm not really a fan, so I  don't know, nor do I care.  The Belfs attitude is snobby, self centered, and overall annoying.  If you knew a person that acted like that in real life....  Well....  It'd be Paris Hilton.  And that's just not something I would like to have around....  It's all over in World of Warcraft though!!!

I'm tripping over snobby anorexic pink things every time I turn around!  My only hope lies within the expansion.  When the Goblins come to the Horde, and the Worgen go to the Alliance.  I can only assume some of the people playing Belfs, will go over and play Werewolves (i.e. Worgen).  "ZOH MAI GAWD!  IT'S A WEREWOLF!!!  JUST LIKE IN THAT TWILIGHT BOOK!!!!"  *rerolls alliance.*

That's what I hope happens anyways...  What do you think will happen?

Bishie's UI

Lately I've been having a lot of trouble with the UI for WoW.  There isn't really many options to mess with when it comes to the UI.  You make it bigger, make it smaller, add some action bars, and you've done all you can.

So I've been looking for ways to change my UI.  Only all the frames I find make everything so cluttered....  It's not even funny.  So after a few days of testing a few things to find out what works...  I found a pretty good formula.

I use Dominoes for the actionbars.

I use the standard wow interface for player and unit frames.

And I use Bagnon for an easy all in one bag interface.

The result is a cleaner interface, and easier access to the buttons for spells and abilities.

Warsong Gulch: What you can do to suck less!

This is post number two for Bishie's Adventure Log.  This time boys and girls, we're going to talk about my favorite battle ground.  Warsong Gulch, and what you can do to suck less when you're playing!

First and foremost.  It is important that you always try to stick with the group.  The more people you have with you, the better chance you have at staying alive.  A healer or two is not needed, but is highly recommended.

Are you playing with a Pick Up Group (PUG)?  Then there are a few things you should know.

If they're farming mid field, then that gives you plenty of distraction to get the flag.  If you can manage to get the flag to where everyone is fighting...  The people fighting mid field turn into your back up!

Don't let them get to you!  If you can't get the flag, or are getting overwhelmed on defense because everyone is too busy farming kills mid field, then just find a way to have fun while you lose!  Go join the kill farming, or just have fun talking trash.  A quick loss is better than a painfully slow one.

When the game starts, try to remind everyone of basic objectives....  Say things like:

  • Who's going to stay on D?
  • Remember to protect the flag carriers!
  • Zerg the base!
  • Stick together!
  • Stay in a group!
These are really obvious things....  You'd be surprised how much of a difference it makes though.  I've practiced saying it in every WSG I joined.  We won more when I said it, as opposed to when I said nothing.

Last but not least....  Prioritize your targets!  This goes for healers and DPS fools alike!
If you see a flag carrier...  Attack the flag carrier.  DO NOT chase down a rogue that's half way dead, just to get the kill.  You get more honor from a flag cap than you do from one kill.
If you see a healer healing the flag carrier...  Then kill the healer!  Then kill the flag carrier!
It's not hard really.....
Oh!  And before I forget....  Slow the flag carrier down!  At all costs!  The slower he goes, the more people can catch up to him.  The more people that catch up to him, the better chance you have of killing him.  So!  Slow them down by any means necessary.  Use snaring spells as opposed to high damage ones.  THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL!!!  SLOW THEM DOWN!!!

And for you healers......  If you see the flag carrier...  Heal him!

That's all I can think of for now...
I leave you with this:

Let's get this started with a rant about Healers and Tanks!

So I was starting a group for Razor Fang Kraul the other day.  We had me (a druid), a priest, a warrior, a paladin, and a hunter in the group.  Guess what?  The priest and the warrior refused to tank and heal respectively.  It's like....  Why would you even make a priest if you're not going to heal in groups?  If I wanted spell DPS, I would get a warlock, or a mage...

The warrior is even worse!  It's the only class that is 100% tanking.  You're a warrior, and you don't want to tank in our group?  Really?!  If I wanted melee DPS I would invite a rogue, or a paladin.  Acutally....  I can do without melee DPS altogether at such a low level.  All rogues, paladins, and warriors do is pull aggro with no regard for anyone else.

"Oh?  You were tanking that?  I don't really care.  I pretty much do what I want."

Actually, I had someone say that they can solo one guy.  So it was ok if they got aggro.  To which I replied; Yeah, go ahead and pull five, and see if I try to save you.  (Obviously I was the tank in this situation.)

I just don't see the point.  You wanna play a shadow priest?  Cool.  Go solo somewhere by yourself.  Or go make a friggin mage.

You wanna be a DPS warrior huh?  What's that?  You DPS by doing a Challenging Shout, followed by a Retaliation?  How about you go start a friggin rogue, and do better DPS without pissing anyone off....

Or better yet!  Both of you go make fucking hunters and listen to no one ever again!  That would help everyone out!
